Introductory activities

During February 2019, teachers Radica Acevska and Mirsada Idrizi, together with first and second grade students, conducted extracurricular introductory activities through which they introduced the students with the Nansen Model for intercultural education.

The activities were accompanied by various introductory games, the purpose of which was for students to get to know each other and cooperate during their realization as well as to develop a positive work climate. The students showed interest and willingness to participate in the activities.

Winter clothes

During February 2019, teachers Aleksandra Kirova and Mimoza Bexheti, together with third-grade students, conducted activities from the month’s topic “Winter clothes” within the Eco Section of the Annual Program for Intercultural Extracurricular Activities.

For the implementation of the daily activities Wool and Cotton, the students played different games in order to get acquainted with the daily topics. They discussed about the materials out of which winter clothes are made and their characteristics and by using them, they created some artworks in shapes of clothes.

The goals of these activities are: to discover the role and significance of different types of textile materials for people in winter conditions, sensitize students to discover specificities of different types of materials, train students for creative use of wool and cotton, foster a positive socio- emotional climate in the group as well as to develop a responsible and active attitude towards group tasks.

During February 2019, teachers Melek Jonuzi dhe Jasmina Kostova, together with third-grade students, conducted activities from the month’s topic “Winter clothes” within the Eco Section of the Annual Program for Intercultural Extracurricular Activities.

Winter joy

During February 2019, teachers Florina Skenderi and Vesna Danajloska together with students of second and third grade carried out activities from the month’s topic “Winter joy” as part of the Art section within the Annual program for extracurricular intercultural activities.

The realization of the daily activities Sledding and Skiing started with introductory games. During their realization, the students cooperated with each other and using different materials, the students created various crafts such as: sleds, skiers and mountains in 3D.

The aims of the activities are: encouraging the artistic curiosity for artistic creation with different non-standard materials, exercising of graphomotorics in drawing decorative patterns, supporting tandem art creations and sensitizing students about the importance of respecting the artistic creations of other authors as well as empowering students for modeling and constructing with different materials.

Our art corner

On October 5, 2018 teachers Marina Simovska and Elida Aliti realized intercultural activities as part of the monthly theme “Our art corner”. The objectives of the activities were: fostering cooperative relationships in the group; supporting constructive communication and cooperation between students and teachers from two ethnic groups; supporting the development of creativity and innovation among students.

Introductory intercultural activities and games

During the month of September, 2018 the teacher tandem consisted of teachers Suzana Vejseli and Gordana Tomeska realized introductory extracurricular activities according to the Nansen model for intercultural education with the students from their classes included in the project. The purpose of the activities was to introduce the students and create a positive working environment within the classroom. This was achieved through various fun activities and teambuilding games implemented by the teachers by using tandem cooperation and bilingual approach.

Spring activities

May 30, 2018- during the month of May, teachers Gordana Tomeska and Suzana Vejseli implemented the intercultural activities as part of the Eco-section carried out with the students. The daily topics of the activities were: rainbow, spring clothes, May flowers and riverside. As an outcome of the activities, the students together with the teachers organized an exhibition with all the products from the creative workshops and activities done during the integrated extracurricular classes. The parents proudly watched and enjoyed the exhibition with creative displays prepared by the students.

Celebrating happy moments together

May 2, 2018- One great way to enable positive socio-emotional climate in the classroom is to organize joint celebrations with the students. Understandably, the most favorite celebrations are birthdays of the students that are marked as part of the integrated intercultural activities as part of the Nansen model for intercultural education.

“After revealing the theme of the day, the students that mark their birthdays prepare the birthday table. The remaining students are divided into 4 groups and each group crafts bracelets and bead necklaces for the girls, and bracelets from elastic color sticks for the boys. After finishing with the designs, the handmade gifts are presented to the birthday students, followed by blowing of the candles and singing birthday songs in Macedonian, Albanian and English.” Radica Acevska and Mirsada Idrizi

Learning about animals and insects

On April 19 and 26, 2018 teachers Gordana Tomeska and Suzana Vejseli carried out the intercultural activities as part of the Eco-section carried out with the students. The goals of the extracurricular activities were:

encouraging mutual successful group and tandem cooperation;
maintaining a positive socio-emotional climate in the group;
encouraging students for non-verbal communication in a bilingual environment;
strengthening students’ self-esteem;
promotion of children’s originality, creativity;
developing a responsible and active attitude towards group tasks;

The students had a lots of fun while cooperating and helping each other. Besides the promotion of mutual cooperation, helping and socialization between the students, the goal of the activity was to also encourage the students to care about nature and animals.

Introductory activities for students

On April 18, 2018 the teacher tandem consisted of teachers Florina Skenderi and Vesna Danajlovksa realized the introductory extracurricular activities according to the Nansen model for intercultural education with the students included in the project. The purpose of the activity was to introduce the students and create a positive working environment within the classroom. This was achieved through various fun activities and teambuilding games implemented by the teachers by using tandem cooperation and bilingual approach. The students actively participated in all planned activities and had wonderful opportunity to meet their peers from the other classes.
